Let’s Hope It Doesn’t Snow In King County
King County is not bothering to remove snow from the roads this year. http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Snow-plows-clear-fewer-roads-this-winter-227668191.html Just like the criminal justice system and the parks, it all costs just too much money. Here's a thought: get rid of Dow Constantine and get Alan Lobdell into the executive's office.
McGinn Receives Dubious Endorsement
I see that Mike McGinn has been endorsed by Seattle's largest employee union: http://blogs.seattletimes.com/politicsnorthwest/2013/10/18/mcginn-picks-up-city-union-endorsement/ Isn't there something incestuous about a city employee union backing the mayor? What is the union hoping to get in return? Certainly, they are not expecting McGinn to look out for the voters.

Here is the article Against: http://seattletimes.com/html/opinion/2021968248_samreedbriansonntagopedconi51706xml.html Here is the article For: http://seattletimes.com/html/opinion/2021968239_annriversopedproi51706xml.html The Washington Policy Center comes out against; that's good enough for me. http://www.washingtonpolicy.org/publications/brief/initiative-517-change-washingtons-initiative-and-referendum-process
Initiative 522 Opinion Piece
Sunday's Seattle Times had an editorial reccommending a "no" vote for Initiative 522. "INITIATIVE 522 is a clumsy, emotion-based campaign to require labeling of selective food products containing genetically modified organisms." The rest is here: http://seattletimes.com/html/editorials/2021968260_gmolabelingedit06nov2013endorsexml.html The problem is, as I see it, that the TV ads for the pro-522 campaign seem to be designed to …
Who Needs The Federal Government?
As expected, the federal government "shutdown" has revealed to all who are paying attention that a pretty significant chunk of the Washington D.C. bureaucracy does pretty much nothing at all. Who knew? Here is a link to this shocking development: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/10/07/silver-lining-federal-slimdown-exposes-government-waste/
